MALIGNE LAKE, ALBERTA, CANADA

Maligne Lake is located in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is wellknown for the colour of its water, the surrounding peaks, the three glaciers visible from the lake. Unfortunately there was still a lot of smoke from the wildfires and I arrived too late to take the tour to Spirit Island, a frequently photographed islet.

Amazing emerald water colour which comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciersthat overlook the lake. The lake has a surface of 0.8 km2. It has a maximum depth of 70 m and is situated at an altitude of 1750 m.
